A few days later we took a shot of the Arc de Triomphe as seen from the steps of the Grande Arche.

In fact, this was on Saturday. The next afternoon, Lance Armstrong would be leading the pack and winning the Tour de France down the Champs Élysées. We avoided this area on Sunday—again, crowds, tourists and now add in raving sports fanatics.
