The first sightings of bones in the catacombs. Technically, you are not supposed to take photographs in the catacombs; but more than one guide book said that snapshots are allowed as long as you are not setting up for a professional shot with a tripod. Still, on the one time we passed a worker, we pocketed the camera.
Many of the passageways were apparently used by the Résistance during WWII.
